Hrönn became the CEO of the New Business Venture Fund May 1st 2022. She is an experienced manager and board member. She started her career in tourism and was director of the domestic division of Úrvals-Útsýn 1991-1995 and managing director of Hótel Saga ehf. 1998 – 2007. In 2007, Hrönn started working in the financial sector, first as Managing Director of SPRON Factoring and later as Head of Arion Bank’s Business Division. In 2014, Hrönn was hired to Arev Securities to establish and manage an investment fund. The investment company Eldey was formally established in late 2015 and was initially managed by Arev, but asset management and custody was then transferred to Íslandssjóður hf. around the middle of 2016. Eldey invested directly and indirectly in 12 companies in the entertainment sector of the tourism industry, where many start-up companies have been born. In 2021, Eldey’s portfolio was sold to Kynnisferðir hf. and the companies merged a year later under the name Icelandia.
Hrönn has served on the boards of numerous companies, from small start-ups to regulated financial companies. She has also served on the boards of public institutions and interest groups, e.g. The Icelandic Tourist Board and The Icelandic Travel Industry Association.
Hrönn has a Cand Oecon degree from the University of Iceland, MBA – Finance from City University in London as well as a degree in securities brokerage from Reykjavik University.
